Salena B. Ashton received her BA in Family History and Genealogy with an emphasis in Hispanic research (with an extra emphasis in New Mexico!).

Her Favorite Book List:

Add, Alfonso Griego's "Good bye my Land of Enchantment" and Sarah Deutsch's "No Seperate Refuge" to your list of books. The first is a collection of oral histories from people who lived in San Miguel at the turn of last century. It is wonderfully written in English and in Spanish. The latter focuses on the changes of Northern New Mexico in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Though it
isn't really genealogy, it is full of social history, the kind of history that helps us find our ancestors.

"Finding your Hispanic Roots" written by George R. Ryskamp is a wonderful book for both the beginning and advanced genealogist. These books are just some of the many books that will help researchers interested in New Mexico.
