The Mora Valley is host to many small villages scattered throughout. Many of these settlers came in the early 1800’s, more than likely to grow crops and raise livestock in this fertile valley. If you study the migratory patterns in getting to Mora, the majority of these people came from Picuris, Taos, Santa Cruz, Las Vegas and the Santa Fe Trail workers. Ft. Union was very close by and presumably some men from the Mora Valley served at that post. This is just the beginning of some research being done in this area. All records came from the LDS Film #1930436 and the 1860 Mora Census and in cases where the mother’s last name was Romero or Trujillo those listings are included. The COUNTY where they were born is also listed.
